DIY Shower Steamers

DIY Shower Steamers

Building on last week’s post featuring an at-home spa day, we wanted to share another one of our favorite ways to make your bathroom more spa-like. Let us introduce you to the shower steamer—an easy to make disk or tablet—that’s a must-have for aromatherapy junkies. Composed of a few ingredients and infused with essential oils, shower steamers slowly melt under the heat of a steamy shower and release just the right amount of scent. From calming lavender to energizing citrus, you can customize the steamers to match your needs. Here’s how:

Place 1 cup of cornstarch in a glass bowl and mix with 2-5 tablespoons of water (added gradually) until the consistency resembles wet sand. Next, mix in 8-10 drops of essential oils and add the mixture to a silicone mold or even an ice cube tray. Place in the freezer until hard and store in an airtight container. When you’re ready to use, place a steamer on the ledge of a tub or shower, and let yourself be enveloped by the scent. Follow up with a luxurious body lotion, like our Vanilla or Berry Citrus lotions, for a total spa experience.
